Low-cost comprehensive network security

It is no secret that effective network security employes a multi-layered approach, including  firewalls, ant-virus, spy-ware, strong passwords, etc. Only big companies with large IT budgets have been able to implement comprehensive network security measures which employ intrusion prevension and network access control.

In response to new compliance regulations and increasing security threats, new products have been recently released which provide these comprehensive security features at an affordable price.

Over the last year, ANET has been evaluating many of these new products to meet the security needs of our client base, that is, a low-cost comprehensive security solution to meet emerging security threats which satify new compliance regulations.  Our definition of “low-cost comprehensive” includes anti-virus, anti-spyware, anti-spam, firewall, intrusion prevension and access control in the $100 per user range.

Based on our criteria, we looked at solutions from most major security vendors, and only one provided all of the specified security features in a single product, at the desired price. McAfee’s Total Security, Advanced Enterprise product provides intrusion prevension and network access control combined with an anti-virus/anti-spam client for less than $100 per user. Other leading vendors provided similar solutions through various products at a higher price.

Keep in mind that this time next year, there will likely be a half a dozen competing products which provide the same features at half the price. The significant point here, is that this technology is now available at an affordable price, and is only likely to get better.
